Part 1: Direct Data Recovery from iPad, iPod touch and iPhone
The list of devices that Dr.Fone can allow you to recover deleted call history, messages, calenders, contacts, Safari bookmarks and reminders, is long. The devices are iPad mini 2 (Retina), iPad Air, iPhone 3GS/4/4S/5/5C/5S, iPad mini, iPod touch 5/4, The new iPad and iPad with Retina display. The application can also help you to scan voice memos, message attachments, camera roll, photo library and photo stream that are present on your device.
Very important: It is very important that you DO NOT use your device after it has lost some data. Using the device is bound to create new data. Such data can overwrite the lost data hence making the process difficult or impossible.
1. Start by connecting your device to a computer
After running the application on your computer, go ahead and connect your device with lost data, for example, iPhone 5. A new window will pop up on the right hand side of the screen.
Note: You can choose to use the Advanced Mode by clicking on the button found at the lower-right corner if you have an iPod touch 4, iPod 1 or iPhone 4/3GS.
2. Start scanning your device for any lost data
In order to start scanning your iPod touch, iPad, or iPhone immediately, you will need to click on the button named Start Scan.
Note: The Advanced Mode has an option for deep scanning your iPod touch 4, iPad 1 and iPhone 4/3GS.
3. Previewing and Recovering Data from a Device
One needs to be patient during the scanning process since it takes several minutes. It may take hours depending on the size of the storage. The software will generate a scan result that will help you preview all the data. You will be able to see the recovered data, as well as the existing one. After previewing the recovered data, you should be able to choose what you want to recover. The Recover button will do the work for you.
Note: During recovery of contacts, iMessages, text messages or notes, a pop up will appear asking you if want to save the data to your device or the computer. Choosing Recover to Device will restore the messages to your iOS device.
Part 2: Restoring iTunes Backup and Recovering Data for iOS Devices
So long as you have not done any overwriting, the mentioned mode of recovery comes in handy when you want to recover the data that you had backed up as well as the one you had deleted before the backup.
Note: This recovery mode requires that you do not any sync involving your device and iTunes after losing data. The sync will update the iTunes backup file.
1. Choose and then scan an iTunes backup file
The Recover from iOS Device is the default mode that starts on launching the application. Select the Recover from iTunes Backup option. The option will open a window that shows all the synced iTunes backup files of your iPod, iPad or iPhone. Select the specific file that you want and extract it by clicking on Start Scan.
2. Previewing and Recovering Lost Data
One can preview the extracted data from the backup file. Select and mark the data that you want to recovery before pressing the Recover button. If your iDevice is connected to the computer via a USB cable, you can do a direct recovery to the device.
Note: Turn ON the Only Display Deleted Items option in order to show only the recovered data.
Part 3: iCloud Backup Data Recovery for All iDevices
This recovery option is for those who have failed to find their lost data on the iTunes backup file and iDevices. On losing data, do not undertake any backup to your iCloud because it may overwrite the existing data.
1. Log in into your iCloud account after choosing the appropriate mode
The Recover frim iCloud Backup Files mode will appear after launching Wondershare Dr.Fone. A window that requires a name and password will appear that you will have to provide.
Note: Wondershare respects the privacy of its users. As such, the company does not take any Apple account information during live sessions.
2. Scan the iCloud backup file after downloading it
While logged into your iCloud account, you will be able to see all your iCloud backup files. After choosing a specific backup file, select only the files you want to download.
Scan the downloaded iCloud content, a process that will take a short while.
3. Previewing and Recovering the iCloud backup content
Preview the recovered content once the scan is complete. Choose the messages, photos, contacts or call history that you want and click the Recover button. A direct recovery to your iDevice will be possible if it is connected to the computer via a USB cable.
